Timothy J. Sullivan is a partner in the law firm of Brennan Sullivan & McKenna LLP in Greenbelt, Maryland. He received his B.A. in Journalism from Marquette University and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center. He practices primarily in the federal courts. He has represented individuals facing capital prosecutions in various federal districts as well as the State of Maryland. Mr. Sullivan has represented Lee Boyd Malvo since 2006, together with his law partner, William C. Brennan, Jr. Also in 2006, he represented Vincent Williams in a federal capital case in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and was successful litigating a mental retardation claim resulting in the government dismissing, after conviction, the death penalty notice. In 2002, he argued United States v. Cotton in the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Sullivan is a member of the United States Sentencing Commission's Practitioners' Advisory Group. He is an Adjunct Professor at the George Washington University School of Law and is also a NITA faculty member.
